Kala Farrare began her career in human services in 2009 as an intern supporting families affected by HIV/AIDS. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Bowie State University (Bowie, MD) and a Master of Social Work from Salisbury University (Salisbury, MD). As a licensed social worker (LCSW-C in Maryland and LCSW in Georgia), Kala brings extensive experience across foster care, juvenile and adult justice systems, school social work, the medical sector, and behavioral health.
In 2016, Kala transitioned into leadership, holding positions ranging from Operational Program Director to Chief Clinical Officer, overseeing programs serving both youth and adults within the behavioral health field.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kala has been an active community contributor, serving on the City of Salisbury’s Youth Development Advisory Committee and Criminal Justice Task Force. She also founded and managed a nonprofit organization and has supported community initiatives through her sorority, holding multiple leadership roles.
Kala is a Behavioral Health Surveyor for the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), demonstrating her commitment to upholding the highest standards in behavioral health care.
Now pursuing her entrepreneurial vision, Kala is dedicated to supporting individuals affected by behavioral health disorders and advancing high-quality care as the owner and operator of The Guiding Light Wellness Center.
